The first of many Air Jordans. Produced in 1984, the sneaker was designed for basketball legend Michael Jordan. The silhouette of the shoe has become the most iconic and legendary sneaker over the intervening years. With its Nike swoosh logo and its high-top design, it has topped the demand of any other sneaker in history. Initially, the shoe was banned in the NBA for breaking its “51% rule” in which all shoes should at least be 51% white. Nike then took advantage of this and leveraged this as a marketing coup, introducing the staple white colourways like the “Chicago” and “Black Toe”, which had more white in them. The Royal and Banned colourways were also major staple colourways introduced during this time. With the unprecedented success of the sneaker, Nike had re-release the Air Jordan 1 in 1994, 2001-2004 and 2014-2021 as “Jordan 1 Retros”.
